Holi-delays

I don't think this will come as much of a surprise to many, though it probably will be disappointing, but I'm not going to be working on the game until January. I was hoping I'd have more time to work on it, but family and job commitments really put the screws to your free time around the holidays.

If something comes up I'll let you know, but don't hold your breath.

Testing...testing

Well that happened fast. I got through the sidequest far quicker than I was expecting to and you're all the beneficiary of that. I present to you Spaced 2 .08, complete with bugfixes of the bugs I could find. I did check every permutation of the new material so somethings bound to show up, but you should be able to get to most everything I put in.

Again bear in mind that if you use the cheats I can't guarantee the game will work properly everywhere thereafter or that you'll be able to see all of the game material  (new or old) that is available as not all of the variables are accounted for, the cheat is simply there for those of you who don't want to start from the beginning to get to a certain scene.

Present in this release are the following updates:

  • The next mission from the station commander (3rd)
  • The next body transformation (it ties into the 3rd mission)
  • A limited clothing system available from select locations on the 3rd floor of the mall
  • One of the stores on the mall's 1st floor has something special for the audiofiles out there
  • A meeting and conversation with a new character (named Shy) is available somewhere on the 1st floor of the mall
  • The Sergorin sidequest is up and ready (though bugs have not entirely been ruled out) and can be completed.
Oh, and thanks to A.sapien for providing the morphs I requested. You help is very appreciated.

P.S. As I sit here waiting for the game to upload, I already found a bug at the end of the sidequest: I forgot to return the player description to the default. I'm just going to leave it there until the next update because it doesn't change any of the gameplay, but I know it's there.

Down the stretch

For those of you that have checked my blog in the past month or so you may be aware that an update is pending soon. I would really like to have it out to you before December, and while I'm progressing nicely, I find myself at a bit of an impasse. I'm pretty bad at altering pictures, with a combination of lack of talent, lack of practice, and being limited to MS paint, I try to stay away from making morphs because I'm never really satisfied with the outcome. However, with the sidequest I've been working on I need to have changes made to work with the story. I've already made morphs and put them in the game but I really don't like them so I'm going to ask for help from anyone willing to give it.

The images can be found on the 'images' tab above.

If anyone would like to work on them just post the completed morph on tfgamessite, hentai-foundry, or deviantart or something along those lines and let me know (leave a comment).

Getting Closer

Wow, a post once every two weeks or so, I'm on fire. On a serious note the special scene has taken on a life of it's own; think something like the asian sidequest in Lilith Device, only much worse. As a consequence I don't know if I'll be able to get it finished before December, but I'll try to stick to my very nebulous release date.

More to come later.

Brief Update

The next release is coming soon. All that remains is to finish the special scene I'll detail (maybe) in the release post and a run through to catch as many bugs as I can before sending it on to all of you (something I probably should have done previously but I'm lazy).

Progress? (or Bogus Pomp)

Well the going has been a bit slow, but I'm getting there. I'm just finishing up a few scenes (you can see which ones on the right) and you may notice that I've added a few new things as well. I've instituted a new clothing system that's very limited in what it allows you to do and where you can wear the clothing, but it's a start. Additionally I've started a conversation between you and Shy. If you don't know who I'm referring to you may want to walk around the mall a bit and you should run into her eventually.

For now the clothing is being added to whenever I get around to putting in a new piece of clothing so I'm leaving it open-ended, but when the two other scenes are completed I'm not sure what I want to work on next. I fell I should add at least one more scene for those of you who've been waiting for me to actually do something (as the two scenes being completed aren't really that long) but I want to hold off on moving Raven forward until I've let the rest of the game get fleshed out a bit more.

I think I can limit myself to working on either polishing up Bornal, a random space encounter, a dream sequence, or an event that I had started working on earlier but stopped when I ran out of creative energy. Whichever one I start to plan first I'll probably have in the game for the next release, regardless of how long it takes me to do.

Oh, and bonus points for anyone who gets the reference for the title of this post.

News!

You know, a while back when I said I was going to try to limit myself to just a few items to work on so I could get an update out I was being honest about my intentions. Unfortunately my job gave me a serious case of the 'fuck its'. Every time I opened up the file and tried to work on what came next all I did was state at the screen for a minute or two before closing it and doing something else. This wasn't like the writer's block I had previously, I just didn't have the time or inclination to plan about where the game was going next.

Well that's changed now. I'm going to get back to working on the game soon and hopefully have an update ready sometime in November. I'm sorry for staying out of touch for a while, but without anything to say about the game I couldn't find any reason to post.

Poll Time

Starting a new job is good in that it helps you to not be flat broke. It's bad in that it severely restricts your free time. Because I have less time to work on the game and I wanted to start to bring in a few new sections that I've completely ignored up to now, I've put up a poll on the right so that I won't completely disregard some of the material already in the game that some of you want to see. Now I could, of course, update all of the current progressions in the next version, but I don't think any of you would want to wait until the snow's falling for the next release.

Vote early and vote often. I'm not going to set a hard line on what the poll will guarantee, but the more interest I see in a certain section the more likely I am to work on it.

About Time

Okay, I finally got to the point (mostly) where I wanted to be with the next update. If you look to the panel on the right you'll see a short description of what's been added, but I'll try to elaborate a little on what's actually in the game now. Aside from the obvious there's not a but of a debugger in the game, lovingly called Cheat-o's. It does not, I repeat: does not cover all game variables and circumstances that may occur during the course of regular play. It may very well be buggy because it has not been tested on it's ability to work at all times in the game (that would take far too long for me to do by myself and I've already dragged ass enough as it is) but what is does do is get you to the nice juicy parts of the game that may take a while to get and that you may not know exist.

Secondly, the next event/date with Raven is only half completed. Why you might ask, well because depending on what you choose to do or where you choose to go gives a branching pathway to a place I've nowhere near fleshed out enough to be able to have this event set up there properly. It will probably take me a while to get all the items and people that are supposed to be there set up and likely won't happen by the next update (think 2-4 versions down the road). But don't worry about having the Raven relationship break because of it, the debugger can reset Raven to an earlier state.

Now some of the things I've put in this version escape me because I didn't write them down and it's been a while since I worked on them, but this is what I can remember:

  • The next mission is available to you at Peterson Starbase.
  • The next alien transformation sequence is accessible depending upon where you are and how far you've already come.
  • The next alien encounter in space is out there for you to find.
  • You can now take Raven to visit other planets (only the option to visit Jaevol III is completed so far).
  • A debugger is active in the game (possibly buggy depending on when you're using it).

Please use the Mediafire link if you have the option because Dropbox will only allow a small amount of downloads with my account.

Plan B, or maybe C

Well I was hoping to have an update ready some time in May, but RL and writer's block combined to put the kibosh on that. Now, however everything seems to have settled down and I'm almost ready for a release. I only have 1 or 2 more scenes to write so I hope it'll be ready before July, but no promises. If you kindly glance to the right side you'll notice an update it status for the next release, but it's only general information and a full(er) changelog will be coming with the release announcement.

Taking Questions

For those of you who care about the book you can find in your cockpit, I put it there to add a little flavor to the game. I would like to have more information in it but I have no idea what any of you would like to know. To fix that, I'm going to let you ask any question you would like to know here. I will try to answer your queries in the next update of the game, but I do have to put a caveat on this open forum; the more general your questions the better because it will allow me not to have to create such an intricate backstory. I can't imagine that I would outright refuse to answer one of your questions, but that brings me back to my initial point so I'll just say I'll try to answer any question about the universe the game exists in that you have.

Please put your questions in the comment section of this post.

Update

Alright, version .06 of Spaced 2 is now ready. Aside from being proud of myself from actually getting something done, Spaced 2 is now larger than Dungeon at approximately 50 mb.

The changelog (as far as I can remember from the last edition) goes as follows:

  • Bug fixes: the bugs preventing you from seeing certain scenes with Raven have been dealt with, the error with alien attack on the starbase should be gone, and a bunch of others I can't recall at this moment have been eliminated. Just remember, I didn't go through every single permutation of my game, so I'm bound to have missed something along the way. If you find a bug, please let me know.
  • More Raven content. All of the new material is associated with the residence, so you'll have to buy that to see it, however, old material that was previously unable to be seen (such as the second half of the shopping adventure) should now be available.
  • The residence now costs 250,000, and as you start off with that much it shouldn't be too much trouble for you to see the new scenes if that's all you want.
  • More areas to explore: the underworld of the Casino is now open to you with a few little events for you to enjoy, though it is far from finished.
  • New missions: the Starbase Commander now can give you your first mission.
  • New text: I've taken advantage of the new DayDreamer build and converted most of the game dialogue into colored text. I know for a fact that I didn't get it all, but all of the things I missed are tied directly to the rooms (and there are a ton of rooms in this game) so I decided to put that off until the next full build. Because I went through and redid all of the text, there should be far few spelling/grammatical errors in the game, but I want to know from you how easy it is to read the game text in the new colors: Is it tough to read against the white background, is it tough to discern from the black text, etc....
There are some other (minor) additions to the game that I'd rather you find on your own, mostly because they only add flavor to the game and don't impact gameplay at all, but also because I believe they'd be more enjoyable if you didn't go in knowing that they were there.

Anyway, enjoy.

Good News Everyone!

Well...more a good news/bad news/good news kind of thing.

In my free time I have been able to get around to programming, not as much as I was doing before, but it's better than nothing.

On the negative side, for those of you who were looking forward to a third part of Dungeon, well that muse seems to be MIA. I've tried to get up the desire to write additional scenes for that game, but all I end up doing is staring at the game editor. For the time being Dungeon is in a state of limbo.

So, you might ask, what have I been programming? Well aside from a brief foray into trying my had at RAGS, I've been adding pieces to Spaced 2. I've gotten to the point where I'll be releasing an update after finishing off two-three more scenes (sometime in the next week or so).

I'll give a more detailed changelog when the new version is released.

P.S. I was hoping that I wouldn't have such long gaps between posts, but once a month is about all I could expect from myself.

Needing a new file host

Well MediaFire has removed Dungeon from my files list and while they won't tell me the specific reason, they do provide a list of possible reasons. Initially I was worried about one of the pictures I used in the game beeing seen and the person(s) who own the rights to that not waning me to use the image. If that's the case I accept full responsability for that and will remove the picture if asked. I don't make any money off of the game (though I'd like to) and all the pictures I find are from free sites open to the public, so I didn't think there would be too much of an issue with a mostly unknown game use them.

If, however, MediaFire has an issue with the graphic/explicit content of the game, well than they can go fuck themselves. I hate censorship in all it's forms, especially for moralistic reasons where anyone else tried to impose their own set of ethics on others, but that's a rant for another day. If, and stress if, MediaFire has a problem with the content of my game than Spaced and it's sequel will probably be soon to follow. If that happens I'll need a new file hosting site (I'd like to use tfgamessite, but the really slow download speed is a bit prohibitive) so I'll take suggestions.

A little late

I was holding off on telling anyone anything until I had good news to report, but I think I've kept silent long enough. I did manage to find a (shitty) job, and when I'm not doing that I'm looking for a better job. As you might imagine that takes a big chunk of my time; as a result I'm spending approximately zero time working on the game. I'm not abandoning it so don't worry about never seeing an update, but until I have an update to report on the progress of the game I probably will continue to run silent.

Best Laid Plans

Well I was intending to have a new and possibly final part of Dungeon for everyone by the end of February, but I have to find a new job so everything's on hold until then.

I'll let you kbow about any developments.

I Guess Not

Well it's Saturday, the end of the week, and I have zero submissions in my inbox. That ends that.

A little help from my friends

I have the hell-bound path for Dungeon mostly laid out and ready for me to implement, but I don't have anything (yet) for the multiple forest paths. I could go about this like I did for part 2 and just wait for something to come to me, but I have a better idea. I'm going to allow you to submit your ideas for the third (and probably final) part to Dungeon. Send your ideas to me via my contact email to the right.

I'll look through the submissions at the end of the week and either next weekend or the beginning of next week I'll put up a list of ideas I can work with and let all of you vote on what should be in the game.

My original intention was to tie all the divergent paths (save the hell one) back into one final culmination and end the game there. However, since I'm going to give everyone the option of choosing what will be in the game, I don't want to limit you to just one choice. After I've posted the submissions I'll allow you to donate for the one you want in the game the most and whichever one ends up with the most donations will be in the game regardless of the end tally. Now, if two submissions receive...let's say $100 in donations, I'll put in both paths. Furthermore, if three submissions garner $200 each I'll put in three paths. You can see how this might go, but I'm not going to put in an indeterminate number of paths, I'll probably max out at three for now, but if four get an outlandish amount of support I could be persuaded to do more.

In any event, please check the submissions page for rules on what I'll accept as a concept. I'll be updating you on the progress of the submissions towards the end of the week.

Making Amends

I've come to realize that I've been a bit of a dick...as far as Spaced 2 goes. The newer material I put in for Raven is virtually inaccessible unless you do some hardcore grinding. As a result I doubt many, if any, if you have seen the scenes with her in it. So as a bit of a mia culpa, I'm upping your starting credits by x10 until I can institute methods for you to earn money faster. Additionally, in response to (justified) complaints that the housing prices are astronomical, I'm halving the cost of the apartment and the residence permanently. In the .05 version of the game you should be able to work with Raven to the end of the current relationship with her without the need for any more money...but I'm still leaving an easter egg in the residence; it's an alternate path that runs parallel to the apartment, but both end at the same point so if you really want to see different scenes you can try to get the rest of the way there, but it's unneeded.

I hope this helps.

Only the Beginning (I hope)

Hello and welcome to yet another game blogsite. I'll be using this as a place to display and talk about what I'm doing with the games I'm working on (obviously). But mostly this is a place for me to get money. Yes the almighty dollar (or lack thereof) has driven me to this point where I will now beg borrow or steal to get as much of it as I can so I don't have to worry about it. But don't fret, you might actually get something.

Depending on how generous those of you out there are, I will be opening up future (and possibly current) games for fan-requested or proffered material. Additionally I may be able to make future games using RAGS if the donations reach a level where I could purchase a license, and possibly even commission artwork to be included. As you might expect the more I receive the more likely this is to pass. I won't give a set amount to the donation level (at this time) mostly because I don't know how interrested anyone really is in what I do, but I also don't want to force anyone's hand with this. No matter how low the donations may be (even 0), I'll still be working on the game, it will just take much longer for me to release a new version.

Fair warning, I'm absolutely terrible at checking my e-mail. I don't doubt that I will be just as bad with updates, though I will try to keep you more informed should your donations warrant it. Even if you don't hear anything from me I'm still probably working on the game, but as I said before: mo money, mo programming.
